Location: Mississippi River @ La Crosse WI, sailing to ports in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa
In the heart of the United States lies one of the worlds greatest rivers, the Mighty Mississippi, which begins as a tiny brook at Lake Itasca in Northern Minnesota and 2,350 miles later empties into the gulf of Mexico. Along the way, the Upper Mississippi passes through America's heartland, also known as "GOD'S COUNTRY", home to the best house boating in the world.
At the center of the heartland is the Mississippi River House boating Capital - Historic La Crosse Wisconsin. The many miles of calm water, scenic beaches, historic river towns, spectacular scenery and excellent fishing makes La Crosse the perfect location for a houseboat vacation.
From here you can visit river towns in three states. Towns with names like Red Wing, Wabasha, Bass Camp and Winona in Minnesota and La Crosse, Trempealeau, Alma, Prairie Du Chein and Fountain City in Wisconsin or Lansing, Mc Gregor and Marquette in Iowa. Come visit us on the Mississippi and experience the life of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.
Since 1980 boat owners across America have trusted GCC for fast, fair and simple boat financing. With an earned reputation as a marine lender with integrity, our track record speaks for itself. We've loaned billions of dollars with a very basic philosophy: The Customer Comes First.
Boat buyers have many choices when it comes to paying for their purchase, but an informed decision is always best.
Two points to consider:
Interest expense paid on a loan secured by a boat may be deductible on your federal income tax return.
The interest costs of a boat loan over the anticipated life may be considerably less than investment earnings on the same amount of money.
Check out Ganis Credit Corp. for your next houseboat purchase.
Some 41 states are served by over 25,000 miles of navigable rivers and canals of which 12,000 miles are operated and maintained by the federal government as commercial waterways. After 12 years of construction at a total cost of nearly $2 billion, the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway was completed on December 12, 1984. The last plug of earth was removed from the waterway channel at Amory, Mississippi, allowing the long awaited mixing of the waters of the Tombigbee with that of the Tennessee River.
The Tenn-Tom officially opened to commerce on January 10, 1985 when the Towboat, Eddie Waxler, transporting nearly 2.7 million gallons of petroleum products, made its maiden voyage on the waterway. A lottery was held to select the first commercial tow to transit the waterway. For more info on the Tenn Tom follow the link above.
